Hi, I'm Kelly - a proud member of the Fetcham community and have been for all my life. Surrey Mirror published Orange emergency 'refuge' area trialed as part of M3 smart...
The first "emergency refuge" area on a smart motorway is now being trialled on the M3 near Camberly. Highways England said the redesigned emergency area has a "highly visible" orange road surface and clear signs to help improve its visibility to make it more obvious to drivers.The M3 Smart Motorway will have no hard shoulder, as it has been converted into a live running lane to increase capacity.
