A ferocious hailstorm battered Reigate and Redhill this afternoon. After a sunny and cheerful morning, at about 2pm, several rumbles of thunder could be heard to the west of the area and in the sky, deathly-black storm clouds built up. Large-size hailstones pelted down causing shoppers to run for shelter and by 2,15pm, the storm was of tropical intesity.
