WojciechZ published Waitrose founder's little known links to East Grinstead

Not many people will know that hugely successful supermarket Waitrose has links to East Grinstead.The chain was founded in 1904 by Wallace Waite, Arthur Rose and David Taylor. The last of the three - Mr Waite - was born and spent his early years in East Grinstead and the supermarket chain got its name through a combination of his and Mr Rose's surnames.Mr Waite, according to the census, was born in East Grinstead in 1881 and the family lived on Moat Road.
