Caitlin Webb published Southern rail strike: Train drivers vote to walk out

Train drivers in East Surrey have voted "overwhelmingly" to strike over plans to introduce driver-only operated services.Southern and Gatwick Express drivers have voted to join the protest with the conductors over the change in both of their job roles.The operator of both services, Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR), is planning to make drivers close train doors instead of conductors.ASLEF union members voted with a majority of four to one in favour of walking out.Related: Conductors...
