A large tree in Old Coulsdon has been badly damaged by a lightning strike during a thunderstorm on Friday afternoon (June 2). The tree, which is behind the playing fields for Coulsdon Sixth Form College, off Placehouse Lane, has a large scar down one side. Wood surrounding the scar has been left blackened and charred by the incident, which several residents said they could hear from their homes.
