A maternity ward at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford was evacuated after staff smelled fire in an operating theatre on Wednesday night.Four fire engines attended with aerial ladders up to the top floor of the hospital and moved staff and patients into another ward as they investigated the cause of the smell for nearly two hours.Sixteen firefighters from Leatherhead, Guildford and Woking used thermal imaging cameras at the scene to locate the fire, which was caused by a faulty air...
