Surrey Mirror published Firefighters save 89-year-old from Coulsdon kitchen fire

An 89-year-old was saved by firefighters after smoke filled her flat from an unattended hob this afternoon (Friday). Firefighters attended the scene at Emerald Court in Brighton Road, Coulsdon, at 3.25pm after the elderly resident accidentally left food packaging on an unattended hob. The woman sat down away from the stove as she thought her meal was cooking and had mistakenly turned the wrong hob on, according to a firefighter who attended.
