A woman from Reigate has become an ambassador for the Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) after she battled the disease three years ago.Sophie Royce, from Hornbeam Road, contracted a relatively rare strain of the disease in 2013 and was taken to the intensive care unit of St Thomas' in central London.Sophie was in hospital for a total of eight weeks and has undergone 30 surgeries as she had to lose the tips of her fingers and ends of her feet after developing septicaemia – blood poisoning...
