A woman who played a major role in the Home Front's efforts in winning the Second World War has turned 101. Evelyn Andrews, who grew up in Ashtead but now lives in Redhill, was stationed in Yorkshire at the outbreak of the war and was part of a team who had a "direct line" with wartime Prime Minister Winston Churchill.Born in South Lambeth, London, in January 1916, Evelyn's life began during First World War and even at that young age, the enormity of it left a lasting memory.READ MORE:...
