Fire crews were called to a Caterham home last night (January 5) after a mantelpiece caught fire.Godstone and Purley firefighters were called to the incident in Ninehams Road at 8.39pm and on arrival they found the structure ablaze because flames had spread from a faulty log burner.Purley Watch Commander Ian Day said: "There was some defect with the log burner in the house that caused the mantelpiece to catch alight."Firefighters used hose reels to put the fire out and dismantled the...
