A cold weather alert has been issued for Surrey as parts of the county are predicted to plummet to as low as -5.3 C on Thursday night (January 5). The cold conditions have prompted the Met Office to issue a yellow warning throughout Surrey, warning about icy conditions on the roads. Surrey County Council tweeted: "With road temperatures due to drop to -5.3 degrees Celsius, gritters are being filled up ready to head out at 2pm (on Thursday) to help stop ice forming."
