Woman's 9-month battle to avoid flooding in Fetcham

A WOMAN who was left homeless for nearly a year after the floods of Christmas 2013 is locked in a nine-month battle to avoid it happening again.
Mal Armitt and her mother were forced out of their home in Cannon Grove, Fetcham, after water covered their garden and seeped into the house.
The problem was made worse by a pond at the end of their garden which is filled by two run-off pipes owned by Thames Water and empties through a culvert owned by Network Rail.
Mrs Armitt, 48, wants the firms to clear out the pond before the winter weather puts it at risk of flooding again.
But she says she is struggling to get them to take responsibility for the work.
